Bescom to Revisit 5.5 Lakh Gruha Jyothi Beneficiaries in Second Verification Round
Bescom will conduct a second round of door-to-door verification for about 5.5 lakh Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries who failed to submit documents or refused to share personal details.
The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) will carry out a second round of door-to-door verification for roughly 5.5 lakh Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries who either did not submit the required documents or declined to provide personal details during the ongoing survey.
According to Energy department officials, the follow-up exercise is intended to ensure that eligible households do not lose their benefits under the scheme.
A senior Bescom official said the company has about 68.86 lakh Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries within its jurisdiction and that nearly 99% of household surveys have been completed so far. Among those surveyed, around 5.5 lakh beneficiaries either failed to furnish documents such as Aadhaar or Voter ID or refused to provide them. Staff will visit these households again as part of the second round of verification.
Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta said the government was considering policy-level changes for beneficiaries who could not provide details for various reasons, including the absence of documents like Aadhaar cards or Voter IDs. Such cases will be examined during the second round of the door-to-door survey.
The verification drive began in July 2026 and was initially scheduled to conclude by August 31. The deadline was later extended to September 30.
