Beyoncé Marks 45th Birthday with Remastered 'B'Day' Album Reissue

Pop superstar Beyoncé surprised fans on her 45th birthday by releasing a remastered edition of her 2006 album, 'B'Day'. The reissue marks the project's 20th anniversary and includes Spanish-language recordings, previously available bonus tracks, and several unheard songs.

Among the new additions is "Can I Watch You," a collaboration with Pharrell Williams, and a fresh Spanish version of "Irreplaceable" that incorporates previously recorded vocals from the late Selena Quintanilla. The album's music videos have also been recolored and upgraded to 4K resolution, with the revamped visual for "Déjà Vu" — featuring Jay-Z — released alongside the record.

Reflecting on the original album's creation, Beyoncé said she wanted it to feel "big, percussive, hard, up-tempo, and energized," emphasizing the use of live instrumentation. She noted that while hip-hop was dominating the music scene at the time, she aimed to preserve the melodic and harmonic traditions of R&B by blending both worlds through sampling. "I loved the minimalism of a beautiful vocal arrangement over a simple drum loop or a classic guitar like 'Irreplaceable'…but only if that 808 was banging underneath," she explained.

The remastered 'B'Day' is now available across streaming platforms, offering longtime fans and new listeners a refreshed take on a defining album of the mid-2000s.
