Hyderabad Ganesh Utsav: Idol Installations Begin Sept 14, Immersion on Sept 25
BGUS has announced Ganesh idol installations from September 14 and mass immersion on September 25, with arrangements at 150 designated locations.
The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) has announced that Ganesh idol installations across the city will begin on September 14, with the mass immersion procession scheduled for September 25.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, BGUS president Rajasekhar Reddy, general secretary R. Shashidhar and other office-bearers outlined the arrangements for the festival. Immersion facilities have been organised at 150 designated locations, including Vinayaksagar (Hussainsagar), Saroornagar Lake, Ameenpur Lake and Kapra Lake, along with about 110 ponds.
The organisers said preparatory work had been carried out over the past three months in coordination with the police, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and other government departments to ensure the festivities proceed smoothly.
The Samithi emphasised that traditional devotional and cultural programmes associated with the festival should be allowed to take place within the existing regulatory framework. It also urged the authorities not to impose what it described as unnecessary restrictions on the use of sound systems during the celebrations.
According to the organisers, the festival is expected to generate considerable economic activity and provide a boost to local artisans and those engaged in traditional occupations. Cultural programmes centred on themes such as 'Vande Mataram', Telangana Liberation Day and Sant Ravidas will also be organised during the festival period.
