Railways clears new Amrit Bharat Express linking Bhuj and Barauni

The Ministry of Railways has approved the launch of a new Amrit Bharat Express connecting Bhuj in Gujarat with Barauni in Bihar, a move aimed at strengthening rail links between the western and eastern parts of the country.

The service, numbered 19427/19428, will cover roughly 2,532 km and pass through Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh before entering Bihar. It will run at speeds of 110 kmph to 130 kmph.

Route and stoppages

The train will halt at a string of major stations, including Samakhiali, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Bharatpur, Mathura, Hathras, Bareilly, Izzatnagar, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Siwan, Chhapra, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur, among others. The route is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Timings and frequency

Train 19427 will leave Bhuj at 5:30 PM and reach Barauni at 4:05 AM. In the return direction, train 19428 will depart Barauni at 11:55 PM and arrive in Bhuj at 1:15 PM.

The Bhuj-Barauni service will operate three days a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, while the Barauni-Bhuj service will run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

About the Amrit Bharat trains

Introduced in 2023, Amrit Bharat Express trains are designed to offer a travel experience comparable to the Vande Bharat Express while remaining affordable for passengers from lower and lower-middle income groups. The rakes come with semi-automatic couplers, fire detection systems, sealed gangways and talk-back units, and comprise 11 General Class coaches, eight Sleeper Class coaches, one pantry car and two Luggage cum Divyangjan coaches.
