Chicken shop owner found dead in Bidarahalli; family alleges murder over domestic dispute

A 40-year-old chicken shop owner was found dead inside the bathroom of his residence at Bidarahalli, under the Avalahalli Police Station limits, in connection with what his family alleges was a murder following a domestic dispute. The victim has been identified as Mubarak Basha, a resident of Bidarahalli who lived with his wife, Shahina Banu.

According to a complaint filed by his elder brother Shahul, the couple had been facing marital discord. Shahina had reportedly lived separately in Bengaluru for nearly two years before returning to Mubarak about 10 months ago.

Shahul stated that he received a call around 1 a.m. on September 9 informing him that his brother had died inside the bathroom of his home. When the family reached the house, Shahul alleged, Banu stopped them from seeing Mubarak, and her conduct raised suspicions about the circumstances of the death.

The body was sent for post-mortem before being handed over to the family for last rites. Based on the complaint, police registered a case of unnatural death. In the inquest report, officers noted multiple injuries on Mubarak's face and body, while the post-mortem report suggested that he died due to smothering.

Shahul has sought action against Banu, Aseena and others, alleging their involvement in his brother's death. The family has claimed that the accused attempted to make the death appear as a suicide. Investigations are ongoing.
