Mid-air brawl on Biman Bangladesh flight sparks panic among passengers
A viral video shows two passengers trading blows on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, prompting panic on board and a response from the carrier.
A physical altercation between two passengers aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight has drawn widespread attention after video of the incident circulated online.
The fight broke out while the aircraft was cruising at roughly 30,000 feet on a service between London and Bangladesh. Footage of the scuffle shows the two men in a heated confrontation before exchanging blows, with one of them tearing the other's T-shirt during the struggle.
Cabin crew members and other passengers eventually intervened to pull the men apart and bring the situation under control.
The episode caused alarm among those on board, including children, women and elderly travellers, who were heard shouting in the video as the chaos unfolded.
The clip was posted on Facebook by a user named Uddin Alim, who said he was on the same flight on September 16 and witnessed the incident while the plane was in the air. He described the situation as frightening, noting that children and elderly passengers who had nothing to do with the dispute were forced to witness it and cope with the resulting fear and stress.
He added that passengers expect to be safe while flying and that being thousands of feet in the air leaves them unable to simply walk away from a dangerous situation.
The video has also triggered a wave of reactions online, with social media users calling for tough consequences. One comment urged that both men be banned from flying for life, while another remarked on the unusual setting for a fight. A third commenter said physical brawls mid-flight pose serious risks to aviation safety and passenger well-being, and called for strict enforcement of no-fly lists and immediate legal action once the aircraft lands. Another user joked about the scene resembling a wrestling show.
Responding to the incident, Biman Bangladesh Airlines' General Manager (Public Relations), Mahbubuddin Ahmed, said he was not yet aware of the matter and was looking into it.
