Bipasha Basu flags worms in protein powder, tags Maharashtra FDA chief
Bipasha Basu has alleged that a newly opened jar of Isopure protein powder contained tiny worms, tagging Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe for action.
Actor Bipasha Basu has raised an alleged contamination concern over a jar of Isopure protein powder, claiming she found tiny worms inside a freshly opened container.
In a video posted to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, Basu showed what appeared to be a small worm on her finger and said several more were present in the jar. She stated that the product was "full of small worms" and referred to the container as a newly opened one. The allegation has not been independently verified.
Along with the video, Basu tagged Tukaram Mundhe, Commissioner of Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration, seeking his intervention. In the post, she described him as her "only hope" against spoilt or adulterated products.
The appeal comes amid heightened public attention to food safety and hygiene in Maharashtra, where the FDA has been conducting inspections and taking action against restaurants and cafes. Mundhe has acquired a reputation for strict enforcement, and has been referred to as a "real-life Singham" on social media.
Recently, actor Salman Khan made a playful reference to the commissioner while sharing a video from a friend's newly opened cafe in Bandra. Without naming Mundhe, Khan warned against raising prices or compromising quality and hygiene, saying he would "send HIM" — widely read as a nod to the FDA chief.
Basu's post shifts the focus to a packaged food product. Any official response or action from the Maharashtra FDA on her complaint is awaited.
