BJP accuses AAP of running bribery racket to quash rape cases in Punjab
BJP alleges AAP is running a bribery network in Punjab, demanding up to ₹5 crore to withdraw rape cases, citing audio evidence.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has levelled serious allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership in Punjab, claiming that a coordinated bribery network is operating in the state to secure the withdrawal of rape cases.
Speaking at a press conference, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari alleged that middlemen were demanding sums as high as ₹5 crore to suppress such cases. He claimed that audio recordings circulating in Punjab expose what he termed a "loot and corruption racket" under the "AAP Loot Model."
The accusations specifically target AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and the Chief Minister's wife. This comes days after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took cognisance of separate allegations that the Chief Minister's wife had sought ₹5 crore to suppress a rape case.
Bhandari pointed to a specific case involving an accused who was arrested on May 13 and later granted bail on July 10. He referenced three audio recordings that allegedly raise questions about the involvement of the Chief Minister's office in the matter.
The BJP spokesperson has demanded a clarification from both Kejriwal and Mann regarding the purported audio evidence and the broader allegations of a bribery network operating within the state administration.
