BJP's Bengal Poll Spend Topped Its Outlay on Four Other States Combined
BJP spending on five state elections totalled ₹529.38 crore, with West Bengal alone accounting for more than half of the outlay.
The BJP's expenditure on the last round of assembly elections was heavily concentrated in West Bengal, where its outlay alone exceeded what the Congress spent across all five poll-bound states, according to expenditure filings submitted to the Election Commission.
The party's total spending on the five elections — West Bengal, Assam, Keralam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry — stood at ₹529.38 crore. Of this, West Bengal accounted for more than half.
Within Bengal, the BJP recorded ₹217.16 crore on general campaigning and a further ₹69.83 crore on its candidates, making the state the single largest destination for the party's election funds.
The remaining four states together accounted for a smaller share of the total than Bengal alone, underscoring how sharply the party's resources were tilted towards the state where it mounted its most aggressive campaign.
The figures emerge from the expenditure statements that political parties are required to file with the Election Commission, which detail spending on general party propaganda as well as amounts routed through individual candidates.
