BJP chief dismisses Congress youth outreach, unveils month-long Seva Sankalp drive
BJP president Nitin Nabin questioned the depth of Rahul Gandhi's youth campaign, asserting it won't impact voters. He also announced a month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday dismissed the impact of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign, asserting that its influence would remain confined to party workers. Speaking at his first press conference since assuming office in January, Nabin questioned the substance of the Opposition's outreach to students.
"Those who have given the term 'goonj', how much depth do they have in their own voice?" he asked, adding that if the Opposition had genuine concern for the youth, they would have acted when they had the opportunity. He maintained that the country's youth are progressing towards self-reliance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and that public support remains with the government.
Responding to a question on the recent collapse of a five-storey paying guest accommodation near Delhi University's South Campus, Nabin assured students that the government would ensure a safe and secure environment for those studying away from home. He said the Delhi government is addressing the immediate challenges and that a holistic approach would be taken to resolve student concerns.
On the issue of women's reservation, Nabin rejected suggestions to delink its implementation from the delimitation exercise. He reaffirmed the BJP's commitment to empowering women but ruled out what he called "narrow approaches" that would limit the scope of their participation.
Nabin also announced the BJP's month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' to mark PM Modi's birthday on September 17 and his completion of 25 years in public life. The campaign will include blood donation camps, 'Ashirwad Ke Diye' lamp-lighting events, and a collective pledge for 'Viksit Bharat 2047' on October 7. Two youth-led 'Seva Yatras' will travel between Modi's birthplace Vadnagar and his parliamentary constituency Varanasi, passing through 10 states to interact with villagers, farmers, and students, and collect public feedback on welfare schemes.
