BJP Accuses Kerala Government of Delay in Acting on ED's Pinarayi Case Recommendation
BJP Kerala president Rajeev Chandrasekhar alleges the state government has not acted on the ED's recommendation to register a case against former CM Pinarayi Vijayan.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kerala president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Friday criticised the state government for what he described as its failure to take a clear position on the Directorate of Enforcement's recommendation to register a case against former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the CMRL-Exalogic pay-off case.
Speaking to media persons in Kochi, Mr. Chandrasekhar said ten days had passed since the ED forwarded a letter to the Kerala Police recommending that a case be registered against Mr. Vijayan, but the government had not yet acted on it. He blamed Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala for the delay.
The BJP leader claimed there was public suspicion of a "match-fixing" between the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to hush up the matter. He said the United Democratic Front, which came to power highlighting corruption during the previous Left Democratic Front regime, must explain why registering a case against Mr. Vijayan was taking so long.
Mr. Chandrasekhar alleged that the ED had established a prima facie case of corruption in the CMRL-Exalogic pay-off case, asserting that the accused had received money without providing any service to the firm. He said the BJP would strongly oppose any attempt by the UDF government to dilute the investigation.
