BJP MLA Chandrapal Singh Injured as SUV Skids Over 100 Metres in Ganga Expressway Crash

Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Chandrapal Singh was admitted to a hospital in Hapur after his vehicle met with an accident on the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, officials said. The MLA, who represents the Debai assembly constituency in Bulandshahr district, was travelling in a Toyota Fortuner when one of its tyres burst, causing the SUV to lose control.

Preliminary information suggests Singh was returning from Lucknow when the tyre gave way. The vehicle skidded off the carriageway near Pota Kabulpur village and crashed into a pole before coming to a stop.

A video of the incident has since been widely shared on social media. It shows the tyre bursting suddenly, after which the car begins to slide as rainwater splashes around it. The SUV veers off the paved surface onto an unpaved stretch and continues skidding at speed for more than 100 metres before hitting the pole.

Singh and one other person were reported to have been injured in the crash. It was not immediately clear whether the legislator had been admitted for treatment of injuries or for a routine examination.

There was no official statement from the police or the BJP on the accident at the time of filing.
