BJP Unveils Month-Long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to Mark PM Modi's 25 Years in Public Life

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's completion of 25 years in public service. The campaign will run from September 17 to October 17, with the milestone date being October 7, the day he took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in New Delhi, BJP National President Nitin Nabin said the campaign aims to take the message of public service to people across the country. He described PM Modi's journey as one that began as an ordinary party worker and evolved into that of the nation's 'Pradhan Sevak', attributing the transformation to his vision and sustained efforts.

Nabin contrasted India's current economic standing with its past, noting that the country was once referred to as one of the 'Fragile Five' economies and faced policy paralysis. He stated that under PM Modi's leadership, India has now become the world's fastest-growing major economy. He also highlighted the shift in atmosphere for the youth, from one of despair to one of hope and optimism since 2014.

The BJP chief pointed to India's emergence as the world's third-largest startup nation, with youth becoming job creators rather than just job seekers. He also mentioned initiatives like Khelo India and Fit India. On women-led development, Nabin referenced the progression from the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign to the Lakhpati Didi scheme, and efforts to empower women through the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.

Nabin also spoke about the changing perception of border villages, which were once called the country's 'last villages' but are now referred to as 'first villages'. He credited PM Modi's development model, which began in Gujarat with projects like Narmada and Vibrant Gujarat, as a template for other states. He further noted progress in eradicating Naxalism and the strengthening of cultural identity, citing work on the Ram Mandir and Kashi Vishwanath.

The campaign will commence on September 17, observed by the BJP as 'Seva Diwas' to mark PM Modi's birthday. The inaugural programme, titled 'Ashirbadar Banti' (Lamp of Blessings), will be held on that day. Activities will include a blood donation camp on the first day, an 'Ashirwad Ka Diya' programme, and a cleanliness drive on October 2.

BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde has been appointed as the National Convener for the campaign. A seven-member team, including a minister, an organisational general secretary, and five senior leaders, will be formed in each state to coordinate the programmes. The party will also organise photo and digital exhibitions showcasing PM Modi's 25-year political journey, along with seminars and interactive sessions on good governance and welfare schemes.
