BJP to launch month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan from September 17

The BJP will roll out a nationwide public service drive, Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning September 17 — the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi — and running through October 17, the party announced on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda said the party holds such service campaigns annually, but this edition carries added significance as it coincides with 25 years of Modi's continuous tenure as Chief Minister and Prime Minister.

The opening day will be observed as Seva Diwas, with lamps to be lit that evening. Over the following month, party workers will take part in cleanliness drives, blood donation camps and medical camps, Nadda said.

Each polling booth is expected to host at least ten service activities, and workers will post updates on social media. The programme also includes a Seva Kalash Yatra featuring bike rallies and padayatras aimed at highlighting the Centre's development work and the Viksit Bharat resolve.

Other components include conventions of beneficiaries, felicitation of field-level workers, and a Seva Sindhu drive to help people enrol for government schemes they may have missed. Regional innovation challenge programmes will seek to connect young people and start-ups with innovators.

Senior party leaders will deliver lectures and hold dialogues on good governance in different parts of the country. The campaign will conclude on October 17 with an address by the Prime Minister.

Nadda contrasted the present economic position with the period before Modi assumed office in 2014, when, he said, India was counted among the "fragile five" economies, adding that the country is now competing for the third spot among the world's leading economies — a shift he attributed to Modi's leadership.
