BJP announces month-long 'Seva Sankalp' drive from Modi's birthday

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a month-long outreach campaign titled 'Seva Sankalp' on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. The initiative, announced by party president Nitin Nabin at a press conference in New Delhi on Wednesday, is intended to spotlight the Prime Minister's 25 years in public life.

Mr. Nabin said the day would be observed as 'Seva Diwas', with a series of programmes scheduled from September 17 to October 17. These events are designed to underscore what the party describes as Mr. Modi's journey of service and dedication, particularly his efforts to extend development and welfare schemes to the most marginalised sections of society.

The campaign will focus on communicating the changes in people's lives over the past quarter-century. "The BJP will take the message of Modi's public service to every person," Mr. Nabin said, adding that the Prime Minister has given hope to the country's youth and shifted focus towards women-led development.

Highlighting the government's welfare record, the BJP chief claimed that 25 crore families have been lifted out of poverty. He also credited Mr. Modi with transforming India's economic standing from the 'fragile five' to a fast-growing economy, asserting that the country's global stature and respect have risen under his leadership.
