BJP Unveils Month-Long Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan to Mark Modi's 25 Years in Public Life

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for its month-long Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, set to commence on September 17. The campaign marks 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure in public office, beginning with his role as Gujarat Chief Minister. Party president Nitin Nabin convened a meeting with the newly appointed national office-bearers on Sunday to finalize preparations for the initiative.

The Abhiyan's schedule is designed to align with several significant dates. A cleanliness drive is planned, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, which falls within the campaign period. Additionally, outreach efforts to publicize the Modi government's welfare schemes will be intensified around September 25, the birth anniversary of Jana Sangh ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya. Blood donation camps are also slated as part of the activities.

A party office-bearer, speaking on condition of anonymity, highlighted that service (sewa) has been a defining theme of Modi's political career, both as Prime Minister and previously as Chief Minister. This principle will serve as the central motif of the Abhiyan.

The announcement follows a series of organizational meetings. National office-bearers convened on Saturday, with the Prime Minister interacting with them later that evening. Party general secretary Vinod Tawde had earlier briefed reporters on the campaign, noting its overlap with the party's traditional 'Seva Pakhwada' observed around Modi's birthday. He also pointed out that October 7 will complete 25 years since Modi first took the oath as Gujarat Chief Minister.

In a separate development, the party passed a resolution on Saturday to uphold the complete version of 'Vande Mataram', condemning the Congress's decision to sing only its first two stanzas. The BJP has announced a campaign to promote the significance of the National Song across the country. The meeting commenced with office-bearers reciting all six stanzas of the song.
