
BJP's Shivamogga unit to march against Western Ghats panel report
BJP's Shivamogga unit will hold a two-day protest march from Sept 10 against implementing the Kasturirangan committee report on Western Ghats.
The Shivamogga district unit of the BJP will launch a two-day protest march on Thursday, September 10, against the proposed implementation of the Kasturirangan committee report on the Western Ghats.
Addressing reporters in Shivamogga on Wednesday, district BJP general secretary Harikrishna Mattur said the march will begin at Halalakkavalli. Former minister Araga Jnanendra, Shivamogga MLA S.N. Channabasappa, and former MLC R.K. Siddaramanna are among those slated to participate.
On the first day, the procession will pass through Kadekal, Kuskur, Yaraganal, and Lakkinkoppa. The second day will see participants move via Thotadakere and Ganedalu to Umblebailu, where a public meeting is scheduled at 11.30 a.m.
Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra, district BJP president N.K. Jagadish, and other party leaders are expected to address the gathering. The march will then continue through Sarigere, Kaidotlu, Siddammaji Hosur, Lingapura, and Kakanahosudi, where a second public meeting will be held at 5.30 p.m.
Mr. Mattur said the march will cover 25 km and is expected to draw more than 1,000 participants.
