BJYM stages black-flag protests against Chennithala, Priyanka Gandhi in Kozhikode
BJYM workers staged black-flag demonstrations against Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Kozhikode district on Sunday.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers staged black-flag demonstrations against Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at two separate locations in Kozhikode district on Sunday.
The protest against Mr. Chennithala was held near Janakikkad in the Kuttiady area, where his convoy was on its way to Kozhikode for a series of programmes. A group of BJYM workers moved towards the convoy on a narrow stretch of road and waved black flags. Police detained the protesters and cleared them from the spot.
A similar demonstration took place near Thambalamanna in the Thiruvambady area as Ms. Gandhi's convoy passed through the region. The convoy was travelling under the security cover of the Central Reserve Police Force and the Kerala police. Protesters positioned along the roadside moved towards the vehicles and waved black flags. Several Yuva Morcha workers were taken into custody after the demonstration.
The protest targeting Ms. Gandhi was led by BJYM district president V.V. Sreehari and general secretary Nithin Madhusoodanan.
The two demonstrations came a day after Youth Congress workers staged a black-flag protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Kollam on Saturday. That action drew criticism from the BJP over the security arrangements made for the Union Minister. Yuva Morcha workers subsequently announced that they would intensify their protests against Congress leaders across Keralam.
