BMTC bus accident kills 25-year-old man in Nelamangala; wife injured

A 25-year-old man died and his wife was injured when a BMTC bus allegedly rear-ended their two-wheeler in Nelamangala on Wednesday.

A 25-year-old man was killed and his wife injured after a BMTC bus allegedly rammed their two-wheeler from behind in Nelamangala on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred near Urs Colony, under the Nelamangala Traffic Police limits, around 4:30 p.m.

The deceased has been identified as Manu, a resident of Nelamangala town and a native of Sira in Tumakuru district. He worked as a restaurant manager and had been married for only eight months.

According to police, Manu was riding the two-wheeler with his wife as pillion on Urs Colony Road when the BMTC bus hit them from behind. The impact threw the couple onto the road. Manu fell to the left side and came under the bus's wheels, sustaining fatal injuries. He died on the spot, while his wife escaped with minor injuries.

The body has been shifted for post-mortem examination. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the accident. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
