Bolsonaro campaign adds ex-minister Sachsida, market figures to economic team
Flavio Bolsonaro's campaign adds ex-minister Sachsida and market-linked advisors to its economic policy team.
Senator Flavio Bolsonaro's presidential campaign has expanded its economic policy team with the addition of former Mines and Energy Minister Adolfo Sachsida and several market-linked figures, according to a statement released on Tuesday.
Sachsida will work under Daniella Marques, the former CEO of state-owned lender Caixa Economica Federal and a close aide to ex-Economy Minister Paulo Guedes during the previous administration. Marques has been a visible presence at campaign events and media appearances, though the campaign has yet to name a potential finance minister.
The senator, who leads right-wing candidates in opinion polls for October's election, faces a tight runoff scenario against leftist President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who currently holds the lead in surveys.
Bolsonaro's platform includes a proposed overhaul of Brazil's fiscal framework, with rules aimed at stabilizing and reducing public debt. It also calls for limits on subsidized credit and a gradual reduction in the cost of hiring formal workers, though specific implementation details have not been outlined.
The campaign also announced the addition of economist Adriano Pires and lawyer Alexandre Chequer to advise on energy and infrastructure policy. To develop proposals focused on women, former Goldman Sachs Brazil vice president Carolina Ragazzi and social activist Lyvia Montezano will join the team.
