
Bomb Blast Rocks BJP MLA's Residence in Imphal West, No Injuries Reported
A bomb exploded at the Imphal West residence of BJP MLA Sapam Ranjan Singh early Friday. No injuries occurred; police have registered a case.
An explosive device was detonated at the private residence of BJP legislator Sapam Ranjan Singh in the Konthoujam Mayai Leikai area of Imphal West district in the early hours of Friday. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The blast occurred at approximately 1:30 am while the MLA was present at the residence. The explosion took place in the backyard, leaving a small crater in the ground and causing minor damage to the compound walls.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited the MLA's residence following the incident. He condemned the attack, calling it a "senseless and barbaric" act against a people's representative, and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice. He described the violence as an attack on democracy.
MLA Singh also condemned the incident and questioned the motive behind the attack, expressing concern about the threat such violence poses to ordinary civilians in residential areas.
Meanwhile, local women, including members of the Meira Paibi, staged a sit-in protest condemning the blast and demanding that authorities identify and take stringent action against the perpetrators.
