Bharat Innovates Exposition Puts 37 Indian Deep-Tech Innovations on BRICS Stage

Thirty-seven Indian deep-tech innovations are on display at the Bharat Innovates Exposition, a two-day showcase at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi held as part of the 18th BRICS Summit. The exposition, organised by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, runs on Friday and Saturday.

Among the technologies featured are AI-enabled cervical cancer screening, floating solar photovoltaic systems, marine robotics, rare-earth-free electric powertrains and an AI-based maternal-fetal monitoring system.

The national programme is conceived as a global accelerator for innovations emerging from India's higher education ecosystem. It seeks to build long-term collaboration between domestic startups, Higher Education Institutions, laboratories and research parks, and international stakeholders including corporates, investors, incubators, universities, research institutes, governments and overseas alumni.

The education ministry described the exposition as the second major showcase of India's deep-tech startups in 2026, following the first Bharat Innovates edition held in Nice, France, from 14 to 16 June 2026. The initiative is aligned with the theme of India's BRICS Chairship — 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability'.

Held alongside the BRICS Business Forum on 11 September 2026, the exposition offers participants a chance to engage with chief executives, investors, business leaders and industry representatives from BRICS member countries. According to the ministry, this is expected to open avenues for business-to-business engagements, technology partnerships, investment discussions, business linkages and access to international markets.

The event also advances the BRICS Education Track priority of 'Enhancing Research, Innovation and Start-up Ecosystems', one of five priority areas identified under India's BRICS Chairship 2026.

Education Minister Pralhad Joshi visited the exposition and interacted with deep-tech innovators. In a post on X, he said he had met Indian innovators presenting solutions across diverse sectors, and that the platform would allow startups to showcase their work before BRICS leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BRICS leaders are expected to visit the exposition.
