BRICS Summit: Delhi-NCR Trains Cancelled, Diverted From September 11 to 13
Northern Railway has cancelled, diverted and rescheduled several trains across Delhi-NCR from September 11 to 13 for the BRICS Leaders' Summit.
Train services across Delhi and the National Capital Region will be disrupted from September 11 to 13 while the city hosts the BRICS Leaders' Summit. Northern Railway has drawn up an operating plan under which a number of local EMU and MEMU services will be cancelled, several long-distance trains diverted, and some services rescheduled to start or end at stations other than their usual terminals.
The adjustments are intended to manage operations around New Delhi railway station and to facilitate the movement of diverted services during the summit.
September 11
Among the local services cancelled are train 64015 between Palwal and Shakurbasti, trains 64429 and 64433 between Ghaziabad and New Delhi, train 64492 between New Delhi and Palwal, and train 64491 between Delhi Junction and Shamli.
Some linked services will also be altered. Train 64110 to Aligarh will begin its journey from Ghaziabad instead of New Delhi, while train 64568 to Bulandshahr will start from Delhi Shahdara and train 64567 will terminate there.
Several prominent long-distance trains will be diverted through the New Delhi-Delhi Junction-Sahibabad route. These include the New Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani Express, the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, the New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express, the New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express, the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express and the Sampoorna Kranti Express. The Ghaziabad-Mathura EMU will run via Sahibabad, Tilak Bridge and Hazrat Nizamuddin.
A few trains will depart late. The New Delhi-Hyderabad Express and the Grand Trunk Express are scheduled to start 120 minutes behind schedule, the Paschim Express by 90 minutes, and the New Delhi-Kasganj Intercity Express by 75 minutes.
September 12
A larger set of local services will be affected the following day, with cancellations on routes linking Ghaziabad, New Delhi, Palwal, Shakurbasti and Delhi Junction. Some of these cancellations stem from ongoing RLDA work in the Faridabad section rather than the summit.
Important trains, including the Gomti Express, Shramjeevi Express, Sealdah Rajdhani and Howrah Rajdhani, will be diverted through Delhi Junction, Delhi Shahdara and Sahibabad.
The Tejas Rajdhani will start 25 minutes late, the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Tejas Rajdhani by 20 minutes, the New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Tejas Raj Express by 15 minutes, and the Amrit Bharat service by 35 minutes.
September 13
Disruptions will continue on the third day. The Palwal-Ghaziabad EMU, Ghaziabad-Delhi Junction EMU, Ghaziabad-Shakurbasti EMU and New Delhi-Ghaziabad EMU are among the services listed for cancellation.
The Banaras-New Delhi Superfast and other services will also see route changes, while some trains will terminate before reaching their normal destinations, ending at Palwal, Ghaziabad, Shakurbasti, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Delhi Shahdara. The Tejas Rajdhani and the Amritsar-Visakhapatnam Hirakud Express are among the trains scheduled for rescheduling.
Check before travelling
As the operating plan is subject to change, passengers travelling through Delhi-NCR during the summit have been advised to verify the latest train status before setting out for the station. Updates are available through the National Train Enquiry System or by calling the railway helpline 139. Indian Railways has cautioned that train information can change and that current running status should be confirmed before travel.
