BRS Leader Arrested in Hyderabad Dawn Raid; KTR Questions Rahul Gandhi
BRS social media convenor M Krishank was arrested in an early-morning raid in Hyderabad, prompting KTR to question Rahul Gandhi over the Congress government's actions.
Telangana Police arrested BRS social media convenor M Krishank from his Hyderabad residence in the early hours of Friday, breaking open the grill outside his home to gain entry. The dramatic pre-dawn operation has drawn a sharp response from the opposition party, with BRS working president KT Rama Rao directing his criticism at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
CCTV footage from the residence showed police personnel using a hammer to break the lock on the grill before moving inside and detaining Krishank. The arrest was made in connection with a social media post, though the police have not yet clarified the specific grounds for the action.
In a post on X, KTR accused the Telangana Police of acting in a manner contrary to the principles Rahul Gandhi publicly espouses. "Rahul Gandhi, you carry a copy of the Constitution and preach sermons. You claim your politics is about 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan'. You talk about free speech. But your government in Telangana is acting in exactly the opposite manner," he wrote.
KTR said the police broke open the doors of Krishank's home and arrested him over a social media post criticising the government. He added that Krishank's daughter was left crying inconsolably as police personnel created chaos at the scene. "Is questioning the Congress government a sin? Is criticising the ruling dispensation a crime?" he asked.
Speaking before his arrest, Krishank said police had told him they had come to serve a notice and questioned the need for a large contingent to do so at 5 am. "Do you go to someone's house with 50 cops to serve a notice? Am I a wanted criminal?" he asked.
He alleged that his seven-year-old daughter was frightened by the incident and could not attend her examination. Video from the raid showed his young daughter hugging her mother and crying as policemen banged on the door.
Krishank linked the case to his post questioning the presence of masked personnel who, he said, had attempted to attack BRS working president KT Rama Rao's staff at Saifabad police station. "We will not stop questioning," he said.
