BRS leader alleges Congress-led raids on Harish Rao's properties, faults police
BRS general secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar has accused Congress leaders of raiding T. Harish Rao's private properties with police cover, alleging the DGP remained a mute spectator.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) general secretary and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar has alleged that Congress leaders, accompanied by police security, raided the farm fields and private properties of senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao. He named MPs Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and Mallu Ravi, along with MLCs Addanki Dayakar and Balmuri Venkat, as being among those involved.
Addressing the matter, Mr. Praveen Kumar said the Director General of Police had remained a mute spectator to the developments. He drew a parallel with an earlier episode in which, he claimed, police had escorted defected MLA Arekapudi Gandhi to attack BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy.
Questioning the conduct of the ruling party, the BRS leader asked whether his party's leaders would similarly be permitted to raid the private properties of the Chief Minister or his brothers.
Mr. Praveen Kumar also raised a series of other allegations concerning the Gadwal Assembly Constituency and the wider Nagarkurnool Parliamentary Constituency represented by Mr. Mallu Ravi. He claimed that Tandur MLA B. Manohar Reddy was involved in land deals, that another ruling party MLA had encroached upon land worth ₹300 crore at Tummalur, and that a Dalit family was attacked following an inter-caste marriage in the Gadwal constituency. In each of these instances, he alleged, the police acted as a mute spectator.
He further contended that leaders who had played no role in the movement for a separate Telangana — including Mr. Mallu Ravi and Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy — were now questioning those who had fought for statehood and were targeting their legally held properties.
