BRS to hold week-long protests from Sept 2 over unmet Congress promises
BRS announces statewide protests from Sept 2-8 against Congress government's failure to fulfil 420+ poll promises.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has announced a week-long protest programme across Telangana from September 2 to 8, targeting the Congress government's failure to deliver on its pre-election assurances. Party working president K.T. Rama Rao issued instructions to the rank and file on the planned agitations, which will include innovative demonstrations to highlight what the party calls the betrayal of the people on over 420 poll promises.
Ahead of the protests, the BRS will release a chargesheet on the government's failures on September 1 in Hyderabad. The following day, dharnas will be staged at Assembly constituency headquarters, focusing on the non-implementation of six guarantees. The party also plans processions with large flex banners and 'debt-cards' to illustrate the government's 'dues' to households for unfulfilled commitments.
The protests will address sector-specific issues on different days. September 3 will feature Rythu Sadassus on agriculture, irrigation water, 24x7 free power for pump-sets, urea supply, Rythu Bima, and the inclusion of farmers' lands under Section 22A of the prohibited list. On September 4, special meetings with women and differently-abled persons will highlight the promised ₹2,500 monthly assistance, KCR Kit, and Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak schemes.
Rallies with students and youth on September 5 and 6 will focus on fee reimbursement, the job calendar, youth declaration, drinking water supply, and other rural issues. The protests will conclude with press meets in all district headquarters on September 7 and 8, summarising the government's failures.
