Anti-terror search in Budgam forest enters second day, tourists asked to avoid Doodhpathri
Security forces continued a second day of anti-terror operations in Budgam's forests, with tourists advised to avoid Doodhpathri as a cordon was tightened.
An anti-terror operation in the dense forest areas of Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir, continued for a second consecutive day on Friday, September 4, 2026. Security forces are conducting extensive searches after receiving intelligence about the movement of a suspected terrorist group in the region.
The operation was initiated on Thursday following reports that a group of terrorists had been seen moving from the Pakherpora area of Pulwama district towards Yousmarg in Budgam. The search is focused on the thickly wooded terrain of the Pir Panjal range, a region that provides connectivity to several districts including Poonch, Rajouri, Baramulla, Pulwama, and Shopian.
Given that the operational area lies close to the popular tourist destination of Doodhpathri, local authorities have issued an advisory asking tourists to avoid visiting the location until further notice. Officials stated that additional security personnel have been rushed to the area to reinforce the cordon and prevent any possible escape by the terrorists.
Combing operations are underway as security forces work to track down the group in the challenging forested landscape.
