CBFC clears Robert Pattinson's Primetime with A certificate, orders 7-second nudity cut
CBFC has passed Robert Pattinson-starrer Primetime with an A certificate, asking for a 7-second frontal nudity cut, muted obscenities and an added disclaimer.
Robert Pattinson's upcoming film Primetime has been cleared for release in India with an 'A' certificate, after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) sought a handful of changes from the makers.
The censor process was wrapped up three days ahead of the film's Friday release, with the certificate handed over to the studio, PVR Inox Pictures, on September 22.
According to the certification, the CBFC asked for frontal nudity visuals running seven seconds to be deleted. Obscene words were muted at two points in the film. The board also required a disclaimer-cum-warning to be added at the start, which states that the film is strictly for adult audiences owing to its sensitive theme and the disturbing nature of certain visuals and sequences, and that viewer discretion is strongly advised.
The certified runtime of Primetime is 110.15 minutes, or one hour, 50 minutes and 15 seconds.
The film is adapted from 'Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die', a 2007 Esquire article by Luke Dittrich. It follows Chris Hansen, an NBC television journalist and host of To Catch A Predator, a programme in which suspected online child predators were exposed by being lured to suburban decoy homes fitted with hidden surveillance cameras. Pattinson plays Hansen.
Primetime premiered in the competition section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Alongside Pattinson, the cast includes Skyler Gisondo, Merritt Wever, Matthew Maher, Phoebe Bridgers and Anna Faris.
The film arrives in cinemas this Friday, part of a week that sees several Hollywood titles open in India.
