Centre Reconstitutes CBFC With 18 Members, Including Preity Zinta and Pankaj Tripathi
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reconstituted the CBFC with 18 members, among them actors Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi and Suniel Shetty.
The Central Government has reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), appointing 18 members drawn from across cinema, television, music, writing and theatre. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the new board on Wednesday.
Among the appointees are actors Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Suniel Shetty, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Pallavi Joshi, Roopali Ganguly and Nishigandha Wad. The list also includes filmmaker Priyadarshan, musician Ricky Kej, singer Hansraj Hans, producer Supriya Yarlagadda, filmmaker Vinod Anupam, writer Manoj Joshi, filmmaker Abhishek Jain, poet Yatindra Mishra, filmmaker Neela Madhab Panda, theatre personality Waman Kendre and writer Ramesh Patange.
The members will serve for three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The CBFC is a statutory body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and is responsible for certifying films for public exhibition in India. The reconstitution has been carried out under the Cinematograph Act, 1952, along with the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024.
