CBSE to Hold Fresh Class 12 Exams for Students in Seven West Asian Nations
CBSE will hold fresh Class 12 exams in seven West Asian countries for 40 subjects that could not be tested in 2026, with registration open from September 22 to 26.
The Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct a fresh round of Class 12 board examinations for students in seven West Asian countries where the 2026 exams could not be held because of the regional situation.
A notification dated September 15, 2026, states that papers in 40 subjects — split evenly between 20 academic and 20 skill subjects — were not conducted in these countries. The board had earlier put in place an assessment scheme on March 27, 2026, under which results for regular candidates were declared on May 13, followed by those of private candidates.
Who is eligible
Regular students enrolled in CBSE-affiliated schools in the affected countries may appear for the fresh exams if their List of Candidates was submitted for the 2026 main examinations and their results were declared under the assessment scheme.
Private candidates who filed their examination forms for the 2026 main exams and received results under the same scheme are also eligible to apply.
Candidates may choose the subjects they wish to appear for. The outcome of the fresh examination will be treated as final and will replace the earlier result.
Registration window and exam details
The submission window for the List of Candidates for regular students and examination forms for private candidates will remain open from September 22 to September 26, 2026. No examination fee will be charged.
Exam dates and the date sheet will be announced only after the registration process is complete.
The re-exams will be held in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Existing examination centres will continue to be used.
Students who were absent from the 2026 main exams for any reason will not be permitted to appear, and the board will not entertain new candidates or requests for subject changes. Schools in the affected countries have been directed to inform eligible students about the notification and assist them through the process.
