Border With China Stable, No Cause For Concern, Says Chief of Defence Staff
Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani says the LAC situation is stable, dialogue is the best path to peace, and India remains fully prepared against any threat.
The situation along the Line of Actual Control with China is stable and gives no cause for concern, Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani said on Sunday, speaking at a defence summit.
Tensions along the India-China frontier have run high for years, particularly after the 2020 clash in eastern Ladakh. General Subramani pointed to the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping, describing dialogue as the best method for defending the border and ensuring peace.
Asked whether the political thaw between New Delhi and Beijing was visible on the ground, he said contacts between the two militaries have continued. Border Personnel Meetings between Indian and Chinese forces are being held from time to time, and he saw no instability, he added.
On Pakistan, the Chief of Defence Staff said India's armed forces are not letting their guard down and remain ready to respond quickly and decisively. He said the most effective way to deter any threat or misadventure is to stay fully prepared, and stressed the importance of acting in a manner that conveys the appropriate lessons.
He was questioned about the consolidation of military power in Pakistan, but did not comment on that country's internal situation or its leadership. He instead focused on India's state of readiness, referring to last year's Operation Sindoor, which destroyed terror bases across the border.
His remarks come amid continuing diplomatic engagement between India and China, with military-level contacts on the frontier seen as a channel for easing frontline friction.
