Chamarajanagar DC bans fodder transport outside district after all taluks declared drought-hit, citing livestock shortage fears.
With every taluk in Chamarajanagar district officially classified as drought-affected, Deputy Commissioner Shreeroopa has prohibited the movement of locally grown fodder to other districts or states. The directive, issued under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, is aimed at safeguarding feed supplies for livestock during the ongoing dry spell.
The order comes as a precautionary measure to prevent a potential shortage of fodder within the district. Authorities have directed police stations along the district's borders and Forest Department checkpost personnel to maintain heightened vigilance to ensure compliance.
Officials have warned that any individual found transporting fodder out of Chamarajanagar will face legal action. Ms. Shreeroopa, who also chairs the District Disaster Management Authority, stated that failure to enforce the order would invite action under the Disaster Management Act.
The ban reflects the district administration's effort to prioritise local needs amid the declared drought conditions.
