Two Chennai Men Die, Six Injured as SUV Hits SETC Bus Near Cuddalore
Two Chennai men died and six were injured when their SUV rammed a SETC bus near Cuddalore on Sunday.
Two men from Chennai were killed and six others, including a child, were injured in a road accident on the Villupuram-Nagapattinam highway near Cuddalore on Sunday (August 30, 2026).
The victims were travelling in a sports utility vehicle (SUV) when it collided with a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus at Chinna Karaikadu. Police said the SUV driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the rear of the bus, crushing the car and trapping the occupants inside.
The deceased have been identified as Vignesh (27) and Parasuraman (50), both residents of Chennai. They died on the spot.
The injured — Sangeetha, Divya, Thamaraiselvi, Poongodi, car driver Saravanan, and Jeeva — were admitted to the Cuddalore Government General Hospital for treatment. The group of seven had been returning from Velankanni when the accident occurred.
Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time following the crash. The Cuddalore Newtown police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
