Chhattisgarh Raises PG Medical, Dental Stipends by Up to 59% from October 2026
Chhattisgarh has approved higher monthly stipends for postgraduate medical and dental students in government colleges, effective October 1, 2026.
The Chhattisgarh government has cleared a revision of monthly stipends for postgraduate medical and dental students enrolled at government institutions in the state. The new rates take effect from October 1, 2026, following a notice issued on September 26.
For PG medical residents, first-year students will receive Rs 85,050 per month, up from Rs 67,500. Second-year students will get Rs 90,027 instead of Rs 71,450, while those in the third year will be paid Rs 93,996, compared with Rs 74,600 previously. The revision amounts to an increase of roughly 26% across all three years of the medical programme.
Dental postgraduate students also benefit under the revised structure. First-year stipends rise from Rs 53,500 to Rs 85,050, and third-year students move from Rs 59,200 to Rs 93,996. The second-year dental stipend remains unchanged at Rs 56,700. Overall, the hike for PG dental students works out to nearly 59%.
The decision followed a proposal from the Directorate of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh. The revised rates will apply to eligible postgraduate medical and dental residents from the start of October.
