China and Indonesia Conclude Joint Naval Drills East of Taiwan
Chinese and Indonesian navies completed a joint navigation exercise east of Taiwan, testing maritime communication and coordination.
The Chinese and Indonesian navies have wrapped up a joint naval navigation exercise in waters east of Taiwan Island, according to Chinese military authorities. The drill, held on Wednesday, brought together the Chinese naval vessel Honghe and the Indonesian Navy frigate KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai.
During the exercise, the two warships operated as a single formation, carrying out practical drills that focused on maritime communications, formation maneuvers, and resupplying operations. The maneuvers were conducted according to a pre-arranged plan, with both vessels coordinating closely to complete all scheduled objectives.
Gao Yongjie, a crew member aboard the Honghe, said the joint exercise tested the ship's ability to communicate and exchange information with foreign naval vessels. He noted that all communication short codes and flag signaling used during the drill were in line with international standards.
The Chinese military statement said the exercise highlighted the willingness and capability of both navies to engage in practical cooperation, adding that such activities contribute to regional peace and stability.
