China dispatches third relief consignment to Nepal, adds AI weather tool
China sends third batch of emergency supplies to Nepal, including tents and satellite gear, alongside DNA experts and AI weather support.
China has dispatched its third consignment of emergency relief supplies to Nepal on Thursday morning, as part of an expanding bilateral response to the recent disaster in the Himalayan nation. The announcement was made by Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a regular press briefing in Beijing.
The latest shipment includes tents, blankets, morgue freezers, medical protective clothing, and satellite communications equipment. On the same flight, a second team of DNA identification experts departed for Nepal to assist local authorities with victim identification and related forensic work.
Beyond the central government's contribution, the Xizang Autonomous Region has urgently provided two Bailey bridges to Nepal. In addition, the Red Cross Society of China, the China Foundation for Rural Development, and other Chinese institutions based in Nepal have contributed relief materials. Chinese community associations and enterprises operating in Nepal have also extended financial and material support.
Guo stated that Beijing will continue to offer emergency assistance tailored to Nepal's evolving requirements and will participate in broader international rescue cooperation.
In a parallel track of support, Chinese scientific agencies have deepened collaboration with their Nepali counterparts since the disaster struck. The China Meteorological Administration quickly established contact with Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, conducting video consultations on weather patterns and sharing real-time observational data. It also fast-tracked the development of a Nepal-specific, cloud-based version of MAZU — China's artificial intelligence-powered meteorological early warning platform — and handed it over to Nepali authorities for trial deployment.
Meanwhile, China's Ministry of Water Resources has been continuously sharing hydrological monitoring data, early warnings, and forecasting information with Nepal.
Nepal has reportedly expressed deep appreciation for China's solidarity, describing the assistance as a reflection of the strong neighbourly ties between the two countries. China, for its part, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Nepal in disaster management and related fields to support its emergency response and recovery efforts.
