China hits back at US 'technological bullying' over Latin America remarks
China rejects US allegations against its tech firms as 'fabrication' and 'technological bullying', urging Washington to respect sovereign partnership choices.
Beijing has sharply rebuked recent American statements targeting Chinese technology companies, calling the remarks a distortion of facts and an act of "technological bullying."
At a regular press briefing on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian responded to a US official's social media post that alleged Chinese firms pose risks of espionage, cyberattacks, and network disruptions. The US official had also urged partners in the Western Hemisphere to adopt "trusted suppliers" to safeguard their citizens and national sovereignty.
Lin rejected the characterisation outright, stating that such remarks "fabricate facts and distort right and wrong," and constitute "blatant technological bullying and unilateral coercion" that China firmly opposes.
He further urged Washington to end its political manipulation and stop interfering with the right of sovereign states to choose their own partners. Lin called on the United States to take concrete actions that would contribute to the prosperity and stability of Latin America and the Caribbean.
