Paswan Files Complaint Against Influencer Over Name Misuse in Assault Case

Union Minister Chirag Paswan has filed a formal complaint against right-wing influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj, accusing him of falsely using his name to suggest political protection. The complaint, filed through his Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), comes after a video surfaced showing Bhardwaj claiming he had "cracked the skull" of a student activist's father during a protest in July.

In the video, Bhardwaj is seen boasting about the assault, which reportedly required 60 stitches, and claiming he avoided arrest due to his connections with several political figures, including Paswan. Paswan has strongly denied any association with Bhardwaj, stating that while many people take photographs with public figures, using that as a basis to claim personal acquaintance is a misuse of their name.

"The attacker has sought to give the impression that action has not been taken against him because of me and my party," Paswan told mediapersons. He has urged the Delhi Police to conduct an impartial investigation and take strict action, warning that failure to do so would set a wrong precedent.

Paswan also expressed solidarity with the student activist and her injured father, stating that ensuring justice for them is his and his party's responsibility. The complaint follows public outrage and protests demanding Bhardwaj's arrest. Delhi Police detained Bhardwaj in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, hours after activists staged a demonstration outside the Parliament Street police station.
