Chirag Paswan Receives Anonymous Death Threat; Ministry Seeks Security Review
Union Minister Chirag Paswan received an unsigned death threat note. His office has sought a probe and a security review.
Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan has been targeted in an anonymous threat note, prompting his office to seek an urgent security review and investigation.
The development came to light after the minister's Additional Private Secretary, Alok Kumar Singh, wrote to the Union Home Secretary on Tuesday. The letter stated that the unsigned communication, which was received in the ministry, contained two mobile numbers and a direct threat to the minister's life. The message allegedly read: "You will be killed shortly by hardcore terrorists."
Singh described the threat as a matter of "grave concern" that raised "serious apprehensions" about the minister's safety. Paswan currently enjoys Z-category security cover provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In response, the minister's office has called for a thorough investigation into the origin, authenticity, and circumstances surrounding the communication. It has also requested that Paswan's security arrangements be reviewed and suitably augmented, if necessary, citing the reported threat perception and his upcoming public engagements.
