Chlorine Gas Leak at Sehore Water Plant Hospitalises Four (2026-09-09)

A chlorine gas leak from a water filtration plant near the Kahiri Dam in Lasudia Khas village, Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday night affected several people in the vicinity. Four individuals were subsequently admitted to the Sehore District Hospital after experiencing eye irritation and breathing difficulties.

Medical staff at the hospital confirmed that none of the affected individuals sustained serious injuries. A senior doctor at the facility stated that all four patients are out of danger and in stable condition.

Authorities responded swiftly to the incident. Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Choubey confirmed that a joint team comprising doctors, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, and local police had reached the site to manage the situation.

Preliminary reports from local sources indicate that chlorine gas, which was being used to purify dam water at the plant, began leaking from a storage tank. As a precautionary measure, the local administration is securing the surrounding area to prevent any further untoward incidents. Officials have assured that the situation is under control and all necessary steps are being taken.
