Two workers killed as church roof collapses on Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border

Two construction workers were killed and five others injured when the roof of a church under construction collapsed near the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border. The structural failure occurred suddenly, trapping several workers beneath heavy debris.

Around five to six workers were caught under the rubble in the immediate aftermath of the collapse. A crew of roughly two dozen labourers, most of them from Ranipet and Katpadi in Tamil Nadu, was engaged in slab work at the site when the roof gave way.

Rescue efforts were launched to pull the trapped workers from the debris. The injured were moved for medical treatment, while the bodies of the two deceased workers were recovered from the site.

The incident has highlighted concerns over safety practices at construction sites, particularly during slab-laying operations where heavy loads are placed on temporary supports. Further details on the condition of the injured and the circumstances leading to the collapse were not immediately available.
