The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday conducted a search at the residence of a candidate in Kalaburagi as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the recruitment of veterinary officers through the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
A CID team searched the home of Mamata, an aspirant in the selection process, located in the New Oza Layout area of the city. During the operation, officials scrutinised documents and digital devices linked to the recruitment allegations.
The search is seen as significant given the spotlight on former KPSC member Shanta Hosamani, whose alleged role in facilitating Mamata's appointment is under examination. Investigators also gathered information on financial transactions and individuals who had been in contact with the candidate.
The operation, which lasted several hours, involved around 20 officials. It was led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police from the CID's Bengaluru unit, alongside Kalaburagi Deputy Superintendent of Police Aslam Pasha.
The alleged irregularities in the KPSC recruitment process have drawn statewide attention, prompting the CID to probe the involvement of various individuals and the circumstances surrounding candidate selections.
