Cockroach Janata Party backs Telangana polytechnic students' stir against GO 97

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has thrown its weight behind polytechnic students in Telangana who are agitating against Government Order (GO) 97. The students have been demonstrating at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad since Thursday, September 3, calling for the immediate scrapping of the order.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke addressed the protesters via video conference, pledging the party's full support. He warned that if the state government does not address the students' concerns or if the agitation continues, he would travel to Telangana and join the protest in person.

Mr. Dipke said the party is closely tracking the situation and would firmly oppose any attempt to register unlawful cases against students for exercising their democratic right to protest. He also spoke with students who were reportedly injured during the demonstration and condemned the alleged police lathi-charge.

CJP national media and south zone lead Vijay Mallangi questioned why technical students were being forced to take to the streets instead of pursuing their careers in classrooms. He argued that government negligence and GO 97 are pushing aspiring mechanical, electrical, communication, and civil engineering professionals toward manual labour rather than skilled careers.

The party has also demanded that students be included in the State-appointed committee reviewing GO 97. Mr. Mallangi criticised the government for making decisions without adequate consultation with affected stakeholders and urged students to continue their protest peacefully.

In a statement, the CJP reiterated four key demands: immediate withdrawal of GO 97, mandatory student representation on the review committee, protection of students from alleged police excesses, and initiation of a transparent dialogue between the government and the student community.
