Rajasthan school inspection attempt sparks clash, political war of words
A CJP delegation's attempt to inspect a Rajasthan school led to a clash with locals, triggering a political row between the BJP and opposition.
A delegation from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) attempting to inspect a government school in Rajasthan's Jaipur district on Friday was met with resistance, leading to a scuffle and a fresh political controversy.
The team, led by CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka, arrived at the school in Kanvarpura village, located in the Bagru Assembly constituency, to verify claims that it has been operating from a buffalo shed for years. Ranka posted on social media that his team was attacked by "BJP goons," sharing visuals of the incident that showed scuffling, stone-throwing, and a vehicle with a shattered rear windshield.
However, local reports suggested that the resistance came from village residents rather than political workers. Police officials described the incident as a "tussle" between villagers and CJP members, adding that no formal complaints had been received.
The incident drew sharp reactions from political figures. BJP MLA Gopal Sharma dismissed the CJP, saying, "What is CJP? There is no use of a cockroach inside a house." Rajasthan's junior Home Minister, Jawahar Singh Bedham, alleged that Congress members were behind the CJP, wearing "different masks" to disrupt peace. Social Justice Minister Avinash Gehlot called the party "anarchic."
Education Minister Madan Dilawar urged people not to turn schools into "political arenas," stating that schools are sacred spaces for children's futures.
Congress leader Sachin Pilot criticized the state government, pointing to an order that bars journalists from entering schools, which he said hides the poor condition of educational infrastructure.
Ranka alleged the attack occurred on the orders of Minister Dilawar and vowed that the school issue would be resolved. He claimed around 40 CJP members were injured and taken to a hospital in Jaipur.
