George Clooney to Receive Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival

Since then, he has become a familiar presence at the festival, attending premieres of films like "Intolerable Cruelty," "Good Night, and Good Luck," and "Michael Clayton." The upcoming honor arrives as Clooney appears in "Jay Kelly," a film in which he plays a movie star traveling through Italy to receive a lifetime achievement award. The role mirrors his own reality, a coincidence not lost on the actor.

Reflecting on his career during the making of "Jay Kelly," Clooney was moved by a montage of his own films used in the movie. "What a lucky life I've lived," he said, noting that his memories of making films are tied to the experiences rather than the scenes themselves.

Clooney's Venice appearances have also produced memorable off-screen moments, including the creation of a cocktail named "Buona Notte" at the Hotel Cipriani in honor of his film "Good Night, and Good Luck."
