Stray Dogs Interrupt Drunk Minor's Assault on Woman in Coimbatore

A drunk 16-year-old molested a woman in Coimbatore; stray dogs barked and chased him away. He was detained and sent to a juvenile home.

In a dramatic incident in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, a group of stray dogs intervened to stop a sexual assault, chasing away an intoxicated minor who was molesting a woman in a deserted alley.

The 16-year-old boy has been detained by the Coimbatore City Police and placed in a juvenile home. The incident occurred around 1:30 am on September 3 near Thudiyalur.

CCTV footage shows the visibly drunk teenager lunging at the woman. Stray dogs in the area are seen barking at the boy and scratching his feet, apparently trying to protect the woman. The persistent barking forced the minor to release the woman, after which the dogs chased him away.

Police investigations revealed that the 30-year-old victim has a mild developmental disorder. She had come out of her residence casually when the assault occurred.

Prior to the assault, the boy had also broken into a shop and set it on fire in the same area. The police discovered the molestation while reviewing CCTV footage during the investigation into the arson.

The minor has been booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including Section 74 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 75 (sexual harassment), and Section 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). Further investigations are underway.
