The Congress party has raised concerns over the presence of duplicate voter entries on draft electoral rolls in Hyderabad, despite a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise meant to eliminate such cases.
Syed Khalid Saifullah, president of the District Congress Committee (DCC), said his office identified scores of electors appearing more than once in the Yakutpura constituency. He has urged authorities to investigate the matter promptly.
According to the party's compilation, several entries show identical or closely matching names, relative names, and photographs, while differing in EPIC numbers, polling parts, addresses, ages, or other particulars. Saifullah noted that the purpose of the SIR was precisely to remove such duplicates, making their continued presence a matter of concern.
The DCC also flagged difficulties faced by booth-level agents in locating residences of individuals on the ASDD list, as the supplied list lacks complete addresses. Without proper address details, agents are unable to verify the status of these electors.
Saifullah suggested that booth-level officers may not have visited each residence during enumeration, possibly sitting at common collection points instead. He added that electors would likely know that submitting two enumeration forms is an offence, raising questions about who filled the duplicate forms.
The DCC has demanded that the Election Commission of India provide political parties with the complete anomalies list and unmapped voter list. It also urged that the ASDD list include house numbers and sufficient address details. A thorough verification of apparent duplicate entries detected after the SIR exercise has been requested.
