Congress delegation inspects Janwada farmhouse, alleges violations and benami ownership

A delegation of Congress MPs and MLCs visited a farmhouse at Janwada in Rangareddy district, a property that has been linked to BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, and alleged that it was built in violation of norms and that its recorded ownership was being used to conceal Mr. Rao's alleged interest in it.

The team included Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi, Whip Adi Srinivas and MLC Addanki Dayakar. The leaders asked authorities for details of the land and the construction, alleging that the farmhouse had come up by encroaching on a nala and without the necessary permissions. They demanded a detailed inquiry by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRAA) and municipal authorities.

Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy questioned how the land had come into the possession of one B. Pradeep Reddy, who describes himself as a childhood friend of Mr. Rao. The delegation sought verification of ownership documents and the financial transactions connected to the property.

The Congress leaders also alleged that portions of the land had links to properties associated with businessman Satyam Ramalinga Raju, and called for an investigation by the appropriate agencies.

Mr. Mallu Ravi said the visit was intended to bring the alleged irregularities in land ownership and construction to public notice. The leaders said they had reported the matter to HYDRAA and municipal officials so that the alleged violations could be examined.

The visit caused tension in the area, which saw heavy police deployment. Signboards declaring the property private and warning against trespassing were put up at the farmhouse.

Mr. Pradeep Reddy had earlier said in a statement that the property belonged to him. He said he had purchased four acres in 2019 and had later leased the property to Mr. Rao, adding that he was prepared to produce the relevant documents.
