CPI Leader Alleges Organised Bid to Weaken LDF, Defends Achutha Menon Legacy

Communist Party of India (CPI) national executive member K.P. Rajendran has alleged that an organised attempt is underway to weaken the Left Democratic Front (LDF). Speaking on Sunday at the inauguration of a two-day district-level party school in Veliyannur, Thrissur, he accused anti-Left forces and sections of right-wing media of working together against the alliance.

Rajendran cautioned party workers against falling into what he described as a trap laid by opponents of the LDF. He asserted that an electoral defeat does not signify an end, and expressed confidence that the Left would return to the parliamentary arena with greater strength. He criticised those who, he said, were attempting to deliver sweeping verdicts on the Left's future based on a temporary electoral setback.

The CPI leader affirmed that his party would never allow the Left alliance to be weakened. He noted that differences of opinion within the LDF could be resolved through discussions and collective consultation, adding that the alliance has a leadership capable of addressing internal differences and moving forward with renewed strength.

Rajendran also came out strongly in defence of former Chief Minister C. Achutha Menon, alleging attempts to undermine his legacy and portray him as corrupt. He described Achutha Menon as a strong Chief Minister who laid the foundation for building a modern Kerala, and said those who know historical facts would reject such attempts with contempt. He urged Kerala society to study Achutha Menon's contributions and work towards implementing the development vision for a new Kerala that the former leader had envisaged.

CPI district secretary K.G. Sivanandan presided over the inaugural session. The party school will continue on Monday with sessions led by CPI State council member T.K. Sudheesh and poet P.N. Gopikrishnan. CPI national council member and MLA K. Rajan is also scheduled to address the participants.
