CPI(M) Alappuzha Leader Demands Asset Disclosure From Rebel MLA Sudhakaran
CPI(M)'s H. Salam challenges MLA G. Sudhakaran to disclose election fund details and family assets amid escalating political feud.
The political confrontation in Keralam's Ambalappuzha constituency has escalated, with CPI(M) Alappuzha district secretariat member H. Salam launching a pointed attack on Independent MLA G. Sudhakaran. Salam, who was the CPI(M) candidate against Sudhakaran in the 2026 Assembly elections, has publicly demanded that the veteran legislator account for funds allegedly collected in his name during the 2021 polls.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Salam challenged Sudhakaran to reveal how the collected money was spent, questioning whether it was used to acquire land and other properties, including in Paravur, in the names of Sudhakaran's wife and son. He also pressed the MLA to disclose his family's total assets and provide details of his son's NRI accounts.
Salam's remarks directly target Sudhakaran's public image as an anti-corruption advocate. He further questioned whether Sudhakaran had previously instructed DYFI leaders to engage in criminal activities, and dismissed the MLA's reformist claims, stating that someone who left the party has no standing to lecture it.
The attack is part of an increasingly bitter war of words between Sudhakaran and CPI(M) leaders in the district. Salam noted that he had chosen not to respond to every provocation but felt compelled to act as Sudhakaran was defaming party workers and LDF supporters who had followed party directives in Ambalappuzha.
Salam also accused Sudhakaran of making repeated personal attacks against women leaders who served as elected representatives, as well as senior figures such as Saji Cherian, C.S. Sujatha, and C.B. Chandrababu. Responding to Sudhakaran's criticism of party fund collections, Salam asked whether the MLA had raised similar objections when large sums were collected during elections without proper accounting.
The feud traces back to Sudhakaran's departure from the CPI(M) after over six decades of association, followed by his successful Independent bid in the 2026 elections. Tensions have remained high since, with Sudhakaran delivering a scathing critique of the party and former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the inauguration of his MLA office in June.
